I would like the trays to be metal and the lid metal, with a metal tray underneath to put the cold pack, or a cold plate you can turn on. I see the next tray (meal) is orange and I fill that one. The color code tells me which meal will be next. When you put the tray it it circles until it finds that groove. (Just a Mark under the hidden part so that you know which feeding portion is next). I would like it to come with color coded trays. I use the button to remove and install the lid but I feel like it will eventually break even though I am very, very careful. I would like it to be easier to make the time exactly the same (I cant seem to do it and one door opens 15 sec earlier and the cat chows down then eats the other cats food. The only things I would have liked to be different: **Normally I prefer not to refrigerate my cat food (because one of them likes it at room temp) so I got X-Chef 8oz containers and I suck the air out of them and leave them at room temp on the counter, until the next feeding. I am experimenting at night with a cold pack to make sure breakfast is still good. **I purchased cooler shock cold packs (4) to put under the catsfuy (just the meal portions) when I am gone. **I purchased extra trays and covers for the cat sitter to pull out of the freezer when I am out of town. **I color coded the tray sections so that when I pulled the tray out I knew with portion to fill ensuring that the cats got the meal when I am not home. The only other feeder on the market that touts that, has very small cold packets that last 3-4 hours, and only battery power. There is no other that plugs in and covers all of the bases #1 It plugs in and has battery back-up (this is the most important reason). I feed only wet (after much research) so I needed to make this work. I did do a few things that I found helpful. I found this is the best on the market now. I did a lot of research before buying this. What you can get: 1* Automatic pet food dispenser 1* Power adapter 1* User manual 5.Guide your cat/dog to wait at the automatic food dispenser and acclimate to its new feeder. 4.Don't overload the tray, in case food is jammed when impeller rotates. 3.Press SET and + simultaneously to unlock, press these 2 again or wait non-operation 30s to lock. 2.Installing batteries as a backup to ensure feeder functions even in a power outage. Over-relying may influence the connection between pet kid and human. Tips: 1.Apply automatic feedings when really necessary. Speak into the Recording Port to record your message (up to 10 seconds).
